The Old Way: Paperwork and Errors<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Until recently, technicians recorded their work on paper and entered it manually into SAP later\u2014sometimes days afterward. Kees Lombarts explains: \u201cThat inevitably led to errors, incomplete notifications, and inconsistent data. Sometimes handwriting was illegible, or a notification was accidentally booked to the wrong asset. We were running into those issues on a structural basis.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The New Approach: Fully Mobile<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
With the mobile solution, that is a thing of the past. Technicians now use an iPhone or iPad mini with the SAP Service and Asset Manager (SSAM) app. Upon arriving at one of the 29 production sites, they scan asset QR codes, open work orders, consult manuals, and enter notifications directly. Lombarts elaborates: \u201cThey can even add photos, videos, or audio recordings to a notification. A short video often says more than words\u2014especially when dealing with issues like leaks or noise disturbances.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reliable Data as the Basis for Investment Decisions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
With an investment wave of hundreds of millions of dollars on the horizon, reliable information is crucial. \u201cIn the past, we simply renovated installations every two years\u2014whether it was necessary or not. Now we want to invest much more selectively. To do that, you need to know which components are vulnerable, how often they fail, and why.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The SSAM solution provides Brabant Water with a solid foundation to better substantiate and prioritize investments. By structurally recording failure data, damage patterns, and root causes, the organization gains a data-driven view of the condition of its installations. This makes it possible to base future investments not on intuition or routine, but on hard facts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Brabant Water now also benefits from more accurately and completely populated fields such as damage pattern and damage cause\u2014essential for failure analysis. Lombarts says: \u201cWe\u2019re truly moving from preventive to smart maintenance. Step by step, we\u2019re building a data-driven maintenance strategy, and we\u2019re already seeing the first benefits.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
