Project Update: Twence Takes Steps Toward Future-Ready Asset Management
A sustainable, circular, and bio-based society lies at the heart of Twence. Through innovative solutions, the organization increasingly returns raw materials from waste and biomass back into the value chain. In addition, the energy yield from waste, biomass, and solar energy continues to grow. In doing so, Twence makes a significant contribution to regional sustainability goals.
This development calls for a robust and future-ready Asset Management framework in which technology and processes reinforce one another.
From ASPM to APM
Johan Amsing, Managing Consultant at Ideo, explains:
“Within our long-term partnership, an important milestone has been achieved with the transition from SAP ASPM to SAP Asset Performance Management (APM). The solution, now live, enables the registration of asset risk scores and the determination of the most appropriate maintenance strategy. In addition, FMECA analyses are used as a structured methodology for defining the right maintenance approach.”
Enhanced Functionality
“The integration with SAP S/4HANA has been improved, and technical complexity has been reduced through the use of the SAP Business Technology Platform. With systems more seamlessly connected, relevant APM information is now immediately available within S/4HANA, in a familiar environment for end users. Moreover, APM is functionally richer: in addition to the implemented asset strategy, asset health capabilities are now available, and the IoT layer is open for further utilization.”
Next Steps
“In 2026, Twence also began implementing SAP Fiori and the 9-phase model. This will establish a uniform and standardized maintenance process that aligns closely with the daily practices of end users.”
Curious about the approach, challenges, and initial benefits of this step? We will be sharing the full Twence case study at a later date.
