About Brabant Water

Brabant Water extracts, purifies, transports, and delivers high-quality drinking and industrial water from 33 water production plants to over 2.4 million residents and businesses in North Brabant. Brabant Water is a recognizable enterprise with a service-oriented, open, businesslike, and positive approach. Customer and market are central.

The challenge

Brabant Water has the legal obligation to periodically inspect collective drinking water installations. This was previously a time-consuming paper-based process involving a lot of manual data entry. Therefore, the inspection process will now be digitally conducted from the appointment to the final report. Inspectors can now handle their inspections digitally and on mobile devices with their SAP and Sybase-based solution. This allows them to work more efficiently and customer-friendly. Brabant Water aims to further increase customer satisfaction along with improving internal processes.

The inspectors can easily perform inspection tasks with their mobile devices and send the collected inspection data directly back to the SAP back-end system.

Chosen solution

To achieve their goals, Brabant Water equips their inspectors with a user-friendly mobile solution, enabling them to work digitally at customer locations. The inspectors can easily perform inspection tasks with their mobile devices and send the collected inspection data directly back to the SAP back-end system.

The mobile field service application is based on standard SAP technology, utilizing the Sybase Unwired Platform, seamlessly integrating with the existing SAP system. Inspectors can work anywhere and anytime, even without a network connection. To further improve internal processes, SAP Multi Resource Scheduling is utilized. With SAP MRS, Brabant Water can efficiently schedule employees and better respond to unforeseen situations.

Through Sybase technology, assigned orders are immediately visible on the inspectors’ mobile devices. Upon completing the tasks, inspectors can enter inspection characteristics directly into their mobile devices. Additionally, they can report worked hours and consumed materials promptly.

In the revamped process, customers receive an invitation to schedule an inspection appointment via the Brabant Water web portal, which is then scheduled with the appropriate inspector using SAP MRS. The inspector receives work orders and inspections on their mobile SAP solution from the SAP ERP system. Upon opening the visit address, a reminder appears with all devices and spaces to be checked at the respective customer’s site. The inspector records their findings during the visit on the tablet and immediately emails the report, including accompanying documentation. If necessary, a new appointment is scheduled jointly.

Brabant Water initiated a pilot project for 30 inspectors. After successfully completing the pilot project, the mobile field service application will be further rolled out within Brabant Water. Ideo has been selected by Brabant Water to implement the mobile SAP field service application, Sybase, and SAP MRS.
